This site is currently undergoing a redevelopment, so please excuse the graphics and HTML blips. I anticipate all will be normal sometime in September.
Welcome to Burnette Creative Services
I provide a variety of support services to the film and audio production industries, concentrating on audio (Documentary/small narrative, and some studio work) and business services for creative companies. I work in Portland, OR and sometimes Washington DC. I’ve also picked up some experience doing technical sewing and some specialty grip stuff. Pics of what I do:
My story starts in 1985, when I was a playpen-bound yute stuck in an edit room while my mother hunched over miles what looked like ugly holiday ribbon with an oddly regular perforation…I slept with the soothing clunk and whir of a Steenbeck or maybe a KEM.
Fast forward to age 12: The family is flying to see the grandparents over spring break. We are doing someone a favor and pre-staging gear for a cable documentary shoot in the area. 14 Pelican cases, 2 tripod cases, our family luggage, and a proverbial Partridge in a pear tree (my little brother). I guess this was my first PA gig. Every case, every box, and occasionally my little brother had to be accounted for. One does not forget one’s first encounter with the non-glamour side of filmmaking, because it is usually an extremely heavy encounter. I was lucky, mine totaled 650 pounds, and involved no risk of losing a Primo lens or moving a Peewee 11 feet on a 10 foot track. It’s just not stopped since then.
Now, I’m 7 years into a career that can’t easily be labeled, doing whatever is needed for creative companies. Some interesting past projects have included building several proprietary music libraries/databases, installing surround mixing systems, sailing on a reproduction 16th century ship to record sound effects, recording a hip hop album, building a car mount, and licensing motion picture clips for traveling museum exhibits.
Take a look around, and call or email if you need anything.
Thanks,
Douglas Burnette
